Meet Melody Faye
I’m Melody: vocalist, bandleader, curator, and the creative force behind From the Third.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in vocal performance from George Mason University, studying both classical and jazz performance. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to perform at venues including Carnegie Hall and Blues Alley, experiences that strengthened both my musicianship and my ability to shape the energy of a room naturally.
My style blends intimacy with power: smooth and soulful one moment, commanding the next. Whether performing jazz standards, soulful ballads, or leading a packed dance floor through Motown classics and modern grooves, I believe the best performances feel effortless, emotional, and alive.
And while “Melody Faye” may sound like a stage name, it’s deeply personal. My father always encouraged me to step forward confidently under my own name, often saying he named me after the thing he loved most: melody itself.

Music has shaped my life for as long as I can remember. I began singing beside my father as a little girl, learning not only how to perform, but how to connect with people through music. My father, Caesar Augustus Roy III, founded what would later become True Soul Band with a simple vision: bringing people together through timeless music that felt familiar and full of life. That spirit became the heartbeat behind From the Third and now shapes the way we approach music today.
We are a boutique music collective creating elevated, soulful atmospheres that grow into unforgettable celebrations. Rooted in neosoul, jazz, R&B, and Motown, we craft intentional set lists and seamless transitions tailored to the energy of each room. From intimate cocktail hours and candlelit dinners to packed dance floors and full-scale events, every performance is designed to feel immersive, personal, and connected. Our lineups range from smooth duos and jazz trios to full party bands, allowing each event to feel custom rather than one-size-fits-all. Elegant when you want it; electric when you need it.
Our Approach
At From the Third, we don’t simply perform songs, we craft an atmosphere. Every arrangement and musical transition is intentional, allowing the energy of the evening to flow naturally and energetically. A cocktail hour should feel warm and inviting. A dinner set should feel immersive. A dance floor should feel impossible to leave. With musicians from backgrounds in jazz, gospel, classical, soul, funk, and contemporary performance, we create events that feel refined, versatile, and genuinely engaging.
